Measuring Love

It's so easy to forget that love is measured by the recipient not the giver. If I feel most loved by hugs and kisses, then lots of gifts without any hugs or kisses are going to feel like a cheap imitation. Likewise, if I feel most loved by time spent together, then lots of hugs and kisses as you head out the door are simply never going to suffice.

Much like my English teacher drilled over the years, you must speak to your audience. In a marriage, you have a responsibility to study your spouse. Whether you've been married for five weeks or fifty years, they deserve the time and effort that you were willing to put in to get their attention in the first place.

Ask yourself, how would your spouse measure your love for them?
